 Scotland Day 14 – Saturday, September 30, 2017

Today we say goodbye to Skye and head out to Fort William for one night at the Buccleuch B&B.  We arrive about 1PM and are able to check in early and quickly head off to the Town Center and enjoy some Fish and Chips and a few pints (me) of the local brew.

Lots of interesting shops and restaurants and we already wish our stay here was longer than one day.  A nice 10 – 15 walk back to the room along the waterfront admiring the houses and gardens as we meander along.

Scotland Day 13 – Friday, September 29, 2017

Another beautiful day here in Skye.  After breakfast we head out on a drive with no particular goal or destination in mind.  We Arrive in the small town of Armadale and watch the local ferry loading passengers for the trip to Portree.  We visit a few shops and enjoy the scenery and the head off to the Aramand castle.

The castle itself is in ruins but the grounds are spectacular.  We walk the paths and marvel at the beauty and splendor of the gardens.  The massive trees and the well kept gardens are a thing to behold.

Day 11 – Wednesday September 27, 2017

Up up for a nice breakfast before we head off to Skye for 3 days.  It’s about a 120 mile drive and soon after we leave Inverness we start to encounter some rain and enter more of the Scottish Highlands.  We began to encounter some beautiful farmlands and hills the further west we travel.  We also went and toured another Castle (Eileen Donan).

We arrived at our next few nights lodging (Duisdale House) a little after 3PM and after checking in we went off to a nice seafood dinner at a local restaurant (Claymoore).

Unfortunately it looks like our internet connections are getting much worse and uploading pics are not going well.  I  was able to upload a short slideshow and will post more pics when the connections improve.

Day 10 – Tuesday, September 26, 2017

Today is our 2nd and last day in Inverness.  We sleep in today and barely made our 8AM breakfast date.  After a hearty breakfast we head out to the Culloden Battlefield site.  This battle was a pretty much one side thrashing by the British of the Jacobites.  Hard to imagine the horrors of a battle of this kind had on both sides.

We then set out for a trip to Loch Ness in search of Nessie.  The drive was on a narrow and winding road with spectacular views of the river ness.  We stopped for lunch at the Ness Deli in the town of Drumnadrochit.  Delicious food as usual but an observation here –  No restaurant I have been in is in any hurry to wait on you or provide any direction on the ordering process.  They are not rude or anything but don’t seem to be in any hurry and thats not really a bad thing.

After a nice drive back to the B&B and a short break we head of to the Town center to investigate a book store and get some dinner.  Unfortunately, the book store was closed but we got to walk through cemetery and a pedestrian bridge across the river Ness.  We end up for dinner at the Corriegarth – a traditional Scottish Inn.  After few pints of Guinness and a nice meal we all head back to the B&B for the night.
